Jan 19: 3rd ICA Edu Colloquium 2017 Delivering graduates to meet the challenges of sustainable development goals – embedding the development of sustainable and ethical values in the curriculum will be held at the University of Zagreb from 12 to 14 June 2017 - details to follow

Nov 21: The ICA Gneral Assembly was held on 25 October 2016 at the University of Ghent.  Prof. Antanas Maziliauskas, Rector Aleksandras Stulginskis University (ASU), Lithuania, and Prof. Peter Bielik Rector Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Slovakia were elected to the ICA Board, with Prof. Yvan Larondelle, UCLouvain, Belgium being elected ICA Treasurer.  Following the ICA General Assembly an election was held electronically for the representative for the Western Europe constituency; Rector Arthur Mol, Wageningen University and Research was elected and President Philippe Choquet, UniLaSalle, France was co-opted to the ICA Board.

Prof. Guido Van Hulenbroeck, Prof. Martin Gerzabek, Prof. Lena Andersson-Eklund and Dr Mika Rekola stepped down from the ICA Board having served two terms of office. These retiring Board members where thanked by Prof. Marek S Szyndel, the incoming ICA President, for their dedicated service in developing ICA for the benefit of all ICA member universities.

Nov 11: ICA Rectors and Deans Forum 2016 with the title the Life Science University in the 21st Century Global World was held from 25 to 27 October 2016 hosted by Ghent University, Gent, Belgium.  See the programme and download the presentations

Following the keynote presentations, panel comments and the roundtable discussions the Forum identified the most important challenges for life science universities in delivering the future leaders for the 21stC global world.  This Summary of the discussions was prepared by Alex Evans, Vice President of ICA & Dean and Head of the School of Agriculture and Food Science, University College Dublin, on behalf of the ICA Board.

PAST ICA & ICA STANDING COMMITTEE EVENTS in 2016

ICA Rectors and Deans Forum 2016 with the title the Life Science University in the 21st Century Global World was held from 25 to 27 October 2016 hosted by Ghent University, Gent, Belgium.  The iCA Gneral Assembly was held at 17.00 on 25 October.

AGRIMBA Conference and General Board Meeting - 20 year celebrations, was held from 27 to 29 September 2016, hosted by Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

SILVA Network Annual Conference 2016 Forest Science Education: self-study and activation of the learner was held from 21 to 23 September 2016, hosted by Estonian University of Life Sciences, Institute of Forestry and Rural Engineering, Tartu, Estonia.

4th International ISEKI Food Conference Responsible Research and Innovation in the Food Value Chain, was held from 6 to 8 July 2016, Vienna, Austria.

ICA-Edu Colloquium  e-learning in the life sciences: exploiting open source materials in the curriculum was held on 16 & 17 June 2016 at the University of Helsinki.

20th IROICA Conference Efficiency of IRO's in a network, IROICA recipes for success was held from 6 to 10 June 2016 hosted by ISA Lille, France.

CASEE Annual Conference 2016, The Role of Life Sciences in Europe's 2020 strategy, was held form 22 to 24 May 2016 hosted by BUASVM - Banat's University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine „King Michael I of Romania, Timisoara, Romania.
